In the 2015 and 2016 Harwood Andrews Golden Plate Awards, Zebra Bar & Bistro was finalist in Hotel Dining Category. Judges also nominated Zebra for Special Recognition Awards: Best Service, Best Value & Best Local Foods.


Judges comments on our menu:

"A great range of dishes, with an emphasis on local seafood, quality King Island steaks, poultry that includes confit duck & a stuffed chicken breast, as well as the usual schnitzels & parmas, a sticky pork loin, rack of lamb & three good vegetarian options.

"Starters include an antipasto platter, Coffin Bay oysters, calamari &  a confit pork belly served with an Asian cabbage coleslaw & plum sauce. 

"Having difficulty choosing between the dishes on offer, we were assisted with our selection & also advised about portion sizes. This was very helpful, as we could easily have over-ordered, not realising the size of the seafood plate.

"For our entree, we shared a seafood plate from the specials list. A generous serving, attractively arranged on a large white oblong platter, it was a model of its type. If only every seafood platter could be this good. We were pleased by the freshness, quality & presentation. The prawns were large, sweet & juicy, the Coffin Bay oysters plump & fresh, the flathead tails cooked to crisp perfection in the lightest beer batter, & the calamari, with a fine dusting of salt, pepper & lemon myrtle spice was tender & flavoursome. In addition to some lemon wedges were three small pots of delicious house made dipping sauces - a tangy chilli dressing, a creamy aioli with just the right hint of garlic & a delicious light tartare sauce that had a lovely balance of flavours - a perfect accompaniment! This was some of the best seafood  I have ever eaten - fresh, perfectly prepared & excellent value.

"For my main I chose the King Island Eye Fillet. Perfectly cooked to my liking."
